Year End CHEC In

The Coral Reef Social Theory proposes that not only does biodiversity strengthen a society, it is necessary to create a healthy and thriving community. Join us to explore this cultural construct and how to utilize the Cultural Humility, Empathy, and Compassion framework to foster an interconnected and vitalized community. We will be breaking into dyads to delve into the theory and practice using our CHEC skills for ethical discussion and interconnection.

The Coral Reef Social Theory

In today’s society, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion conversations are taking place in schools, organizations, the workplace, and interpersonally. However, the ever evolving nature of language can change the impact of the terminology used, regardless of the original intention. In this interactive webinar, we will explore and discuss the ethical, sociological, and ideological impact of the three terms Tolerance, Inclusion, and Belonging.

Tolerance, Inclusion, Belonging?

Often, when we are unexpectedly involved in a difficult or contentious discussion, we may become overwhelmed, emotional, or unable to engage productively. This CHEC In is designed to help you learn the tools to be emotionally grounded and open during these difficult dialogues, in order to effectively communicate with people who hold differing views.

Difficult Dialogues

In our current age of technology and the breathtaking pace of daily activities, we are often forced to choose between deeper listening and getting our daily tasks done. Dr. Brett Kuwada will help participants develop their skills to slow down and listen with empathy and compassion. We will break into dyads to practice our listening skills with one another.

Listening Deeply

In this interactive webinar, we will provide a deep-dive into the components of the CHEC Framework- Cultural Humility, Empathy, & Compassion. Using CHEC, this work will include practice for grounding, uncovering our biases, and improving communication and connection with others. We will be breaking into dyads and small groups for discussion. Come with an open mind and be ready to delve into how you can make a difference.

Microaggressions

In this interactive webinar, we will identify important aspects of our own cultural identities and how those influence our choices, communication, and relationships. Through dyad breakout sessions, you will explore cultural identities and internal biasses using the CHEC framework for effective communication, listening, and connecting with others.
